Monday 29 March: Outdoor sport returns

Sport is in Manchester’s DNA. And over the past year it’s been tough having limits on how we can get out and get active. But there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, the wait is nearly over… from Monday 29 March outdoor sport is returning.

We know how important staying active is for physical and mental health and soon you’ll be able to have a kick about, shoot some hoops or play 18 holes at Heaton Park.

Staying active

We have a bit of a way to go before life feels ‘normal’ again but our friends at MCRactive are here to help with everything you need to know about getting back to the sports you love:

MCRactive have been working hard over the last year to bring us ideas for staying active at home, and they’re more excited than anyone to get back to making grassroots level sport happen. Follow them on TwitterFacebook and Instagram for up-to-date information on classes and activities.

What’s next?

Indoor leisure facilities, gyms, and swimming pools are currently set to return on Monday 12 April. But we’ve all got a part to play in making sure this can happen.

  • Try to keep to facilities in your local area, and avoid travelling too far
  • Keep your hands clean – wash them as much as you can or use sanitiser
  • Keep at least 2m apart from people not in your household, when you aren’t playing sport.

Stay active and stay safe. We’ll see you on the pitch soon!
